A/N: This originally came out of a sample prompt for an application and I thought it was cute so I decided to post it here. C&C appreciated because I love input as well as comments, this makes up for my lack of fiction as of late and an in-between from the fic I owe. If you happen to read this please join Ugly Pink Machine! I'd appreciate it, hopefully my Ruki application will be accepted.
The cascading of rain brought on a torrent of sheets that seemed to fall harshly and drench anything within it’s path or cause a valley of endless oceans alongside storm drains. Tokyo felt new again as the scent of concrete hit his senses but was left with a lingering aftermath of fresh dew drops. Fingers pressed against the container of a Styrofoam cup while the transparent trails of steam filtered lazily across the crisp winter air like an after thought.
He escaped from the near bustle of city life towards a small café which was nestled cozily between a large book store and an electronics department. Artificial lighting catching across the silver of rings strewn onto fingers that seemed to drown beneath the fabric of his blazer in hopes of keeping warm. The heater keeping the small café comfortably warm but with every passing body or exiting patron came the crisp break of air reaching blindly for his body.
The knitted hoodie loosely clinging to his hair as he got lost in watching people go by as well as the taste of cinnamon lingering on his taste buds with every sip. It was the tiniest moment of peace and despite having boundless chatter surround him he couldn’t help but try to catch the faintest bit of serenity. Everything would have been better if he were to just be here and before he could entertain the thought it left as soon as caress of wavering ice hit his cheeks. Eyes catching onto the familiar figure and for a moment he thought he couldn’t breathe.
He’d finally found that moment of peace.
