The Wedding Planner - Reita x Ruki - [1/?] He kept repeating the mantra like a broken record before the inevitable had happened; the engine of the small cab beginning to gradually die before stopping completely in the middle of a busy intersection in the lower area of New York. Things going from bad to worse as he had less than twenty minutes to make it towards the chapel with the bride’s wedding dress. He threw a crumpled amount of money at the driver before slamming the door behind him while trying to avoid getting killed by moving traffic. Just as it seemed things couldn’t possibly take a drastic turn towards shit creek he’d forgotten to pull the tail of the gown out of the vehicle. Watching the material nearly rip as the taxi started up again and began to move, pounding listlessly onto the passenger’s window while trying his best to keep up without ruining the dress. It seemed as if the moment he had woken up and stepped out the door things had gone from bad to incredibly worse. After having cars honk for the crazy driver to stop from killing him, as he nearly clutched onto the steel paneling of the cab door, finally releasing the end of the wedding dress. Hopping across the middle of the road like some bat from hell and dropping any further ideas of grabbing a cab. He had exactly fifteen minutes now to get from his current location all the way towards the chapel to deliver the wedding dress just in time for the bride. Any further mishaps dangerously crushing the schedule that had been set for his client’s special day. Ruki ran as fast as his legs could carry him, bumping into people and nearly crashing into a stopped vehicle as it came to a screeching halt when he flew past a pedestrian cross walk. He rounded a corner and nearly fell into an open storm drain that seemed to be plugged up due to massive amounts of garbage but luckily he side stepped. Thanking whatever God there had been until a car whizzed by to completely drench his suit in the mucky liquid. The dress barely surviving as he sacrificed himself in the midst of the cross fire to make certain he did not ruin the most valuable asset in a wedding. Uruha turned towards the door before checking his watch and slowly allowing panic to ebb away as it came dangerously close to nine-thirty. No sight of Ruki as he tried his best to console the bride by saying how pretty her make up looked. “He‘s not coming is he? What if he doesn‘t get the dress? I‘m going to have to go out with a towel!” “Don‘t worry he‘s coming because he called me saying he should be here any minute.” An obvious lie pressing between his teeth as the bride began to have a panic attack. No sooner had he began to pat the woman on the back and give her a bag to breath into he heard the door to the small changing room burst open. Ruki drenching wet, hair mussed out of place, lapel holding a few broken twigs and leaves as he almost smelled like sewer water and holding a wedding dress while being completely out of breath. Ruki looked like hell and somehow managed to have a small kitten attached to the back of his blazer but true to his word he had made it at the exact appointed time with the bride’s dress. They got the woman to calm down before fitting her into her dress and for that moment when she seemed to glow after glancing at herself in the mirror it had all been worth it. Albeit the aspect that Ruki was going to get a hernia in a few short years. “Thank you so much Ruki. I knew I made the right choice choosing you to plan all of this, I‘m glad you made it.” “You‘re welcome.” They exchanged a soft smile before joining the rest of the family to seat themselves in the back where everyone suddenly began to fall still as the Wedding March had began to sound near the far left of the church. The bride coming down with her father as he lead her down the isle towards her future husband before the minister began to softly amplify his voice once the couple had joined hands happily. The ceremony unfolding beautifully as he cried alongside Uruha when they exchanged I do’s before everyone began to stand as the walked out toward the entrance of the chapel. The bride winking at him before telling him to come to the after party before she glanced lovingly at her husband as they entered a limo. Uruha joined him just so he wouldn’t feel out of place but the entire time he felt like a complete loner as he sat almost miserably at a table while drinking from the small wine glass everyone had been given. He heard a shuffling besides him, not taking a moment to look until a raspy voice had broken over the silence. “You bored too?” “Oh me? Apologetically so but it‘s just because I always attend these things.” He smiled a little before feeling as if his breath had been caught in his throat as he saw the corners of the other man’s eyes crinkle in slight amusement before scooting his chair over towards Ruki from the neighboring table. Ruki couldn’t keep his eyes off of him because the man was absolutely gorgeous in every aspect; blonde hair falling into his eyes before fingers brushed it aside as he leant on one elbow while tilting his weight forward. “Then it doesn‘t make me feel so guilty, if it helps any it‘s always fun to watch people dance while they‘re drunk. The groom is my friend so I couldn’t exactly say no otherwise he would have slit my throat, do you know any of them?” “Oh I‘m the wedding planner.” He felt embarrassed as he choked on his words, feeling like a teenager all over again before the other man had smiled sweetly. God his smile was amazing because it was stunning, especially those lips and eyes, he could go on forever but he needed to properly pay attention to the conversation otherwise he’d be terribly rude. “Really? You did a wonderful job but I must say you look a little worse for wear, not that you look bad or anything just that it looks like you went through a storm.” He stared down at his disheveled suit before realizing he had nearly killed himself making it to this wedding and more than ever he really regretted looking like shit. “I think God was drunk and I walked under too many ladders because it was bad luck the moment I woke up.” “That really sucks.” Ruki wanted to ask what his name was but the groom happened to walk buy and drag the man away to go do something or other. He gave Ruki an apologetic wave before disappearing through a crowd of people and the breath he hadn’t known he’d been holding had been released. It was at that time that Uruha decided to come by with a champagne class filled to the top and a plate of food. The sound of a long whistle leaving his lips before he turned to Ruki mischievously. “Who was that hot gift from God?” “I don‘t know we just talked and then he had to leave due to the groom.” “You should ask for his name and get his number, you know weddings are the best place to hook up don‘t you?” He gave Uruha a placid look as the dirty blonde wriggled his eyebrows before stealing his glass and nearly drowning himself with the bubbly liquid. Ignoring the evident shriek leaving Uruha’s lips. “I think he‘s straight and besides I‘m too busy to uphold any sort of relationship with my line of work.” “Ruki.” He stared at Ruki seriously before pressing his fingers toward the top of the other man’s palm and making certain to keep eye contact. “Don‘t you ever get sick of watching other people‘s happily ever afters? You get paid to plan weddings and have always been the brides maid so to say but don‘t you think that for once you should be one of them? You deserve to walk the alter not stand in the isle.” He gazed at Uruha and behind it all he had realized that his friend was right. He needed to stop running away and just go for it.

A/N: I had a sudden creative revelation at three am and once I started to write the ideas out on paper I couldn't stop until I had everything down. I give Reita a hard time and for once I think Ruki needs a little push into the life of turmoils and love. I hope you enjoy this and if you happen to know a good amount about New York please contact me at runawaysubway@hotmail.com because I want to make this as authenitic as possible. Enjoy!
